Saturday lunch time

Well, I did it.
Yes, I am officially under 11 stone!
Ten stone ten pounds to be exact!
My little Weight Watcher's leader now feels vindicated.
"You see!" she smiled. "It always comes off eventually!"

"Now," she said, "the weight loss is the good news. The bad news is that now you have dropped into the stone below, you know, out of eleven stone something and into ten stone something, you also lose a point."

She continued to smile at me, blinking.

It took a moment to work out what she had just said.

Then it dawned on me.

Nohhhhhhhhhhhh. . .

Actually, yes.
I now have to drop a point off my daily intake :(

My emotions are mixed at this moment in time.

So here are some photos of the sea - I took them when we were at Huntington Beach at Easter time.
I love the sea, don't you?

It always makes me feel better. I'll contemplate them as I consider the implications of losing a points worth of food:(

Hey ho.
Thin people are thin because they eat less than the rest of us.

Thursday afternoon

Just showing off. . .
I've been swimming again this morning clocking up 28 lengths and then I walked home from the Raemoir Garden Centre! :)
How about that, then?!!

I've had lunch and now I'm going to get the ironing done. . . yes, I will get the ironing done.
But maybe first I'll have a little browse through my holiday photos - just to remind myself that the sun does exist.

Little cutie pie :)
I'm sure those are Granda Ian's lovely legs behind him. . . and look! A shadow!!

And check out these cheeky chappies :)
I think this was the day we went to the aquarium

Ah, memories, memories :)

Aberdeen is thick with haar today and it's not quite sunny here in Banchory, either.
Ach well, there's nothing for it. Ironing it is. Maybe I'll find something worth watching on the TV to keep me company :(

Thursday morning

Well wasn't that good timing, last night!

Ian left this morning for London and his wee jolly of sport and music with his buddy, Dave. He'll be back on Sunday morning.

Just Ross and me in the house now.

As I sat up in bed this morning feeling numb and unable to move. Waking is difficult. Actually moving after you waken is the difficult part, Ian reappeared in the bedroom.

"Where's my nice pen. The one that fell out of my trouser pocket last night when we were trying to fix the zip?" he asked.
The trousers we are discussing here are the ones he bought that have extra bits zipped on so you can have shorts or longs. He's wearing them today even though we didn't manage to fix the zip - on one of the legs!! :o
Anyway, I didn't know and off he's gone without it.

Why am I telling you this?
Oh yes.
Five minutes after he left, I stretched my leg beneath the covers and wondering what the hard lumpy thing was that I had touched, put my hand down and brought out. . . yes, the pen!

Are we all getting a feeling of deja vu, here?
This isn't the first time we've unknowingly shared our bed, is it?

Remember the fly?!!

I think breakfast is in order, now. So I'll leave you with a photo of Luca. . .

Look how big he's getting!

Wednesday 30th June

It's ten oclock and Ian isn't in from the golf/pub yet which is a bit of a bummer since I bought fish fot tea today - smoked haddock.

I decided not to cook Ian's when I did Ross' and mine.
Fish doesn't reheat well and besides it only takes a few minutes to cook. . .

Wrong decision, I'm beginning to think!

But wait. . . what's that I hear? A voice from the front door has just called hello!

I'm off to poach that fish.
Speak to you later :)

Sunday 27th June

So who's eating 300 bags of crisps each year? Because I certainly amn't eating my 150 - more's the pity!
Not since the scales in the bathroom said I am 33% fat and that to remain at the weight I am now, I shouldn't take in more than 1,368 calories a day!

D'you think that can possibly be right?
No, not the bit about me being 33% fat - you can keep that opinion to yourself, thank-you!
The other part - the 1,368 calories.

I told Kelly what the machine said and she said she's amazed at how little I eat but that if it's true, maybe I should consider exercising more!

Let's move quickly on from there, shall we?
We had torrential rain showers three times this afternoon and now the TV isn't working properly - it keeps freezing! So I thought I might as well come and talk to all of you :)

Remember Father's Day at Gary and Carole's? Well here are some more photos I took while we were there. . .

The intrepid explorer
I think this was taken just prior to the discovery of the emerging moth

I bought a couple of books at the supermarket this afternoon. A Lynda La Plante novel called 'Silent Scream'.

I read the first chapter of this one in the carpark at the supermarket before I came home and already the first victim has bitten the dust! Good, huh?

And the other one is' Genesis' by Karin Slaughter.

They were a bargain; each book cost £4.99 but if you bought two, you got them for £8.00! Too good a bargain to miss out on :)

I finished my last book, 'Remarkable Creatures' by Tracy Chevalier? whom I'd never heard of before I found the book, a few days ago and I really am lost without a book on the go.
It was quite good - more character study than an action story which was a bit of a change for me but it was a good read if you took it in small bites.

It was based on the lives of Mary Anning and Elizabeth Philpot who in case you don't know were well known fossil hunters on the south coast of England in the early eighteen hundreds. The book clearly lays out society's attitude to women at that time.

Anyway, enough!

I'm off to check out how Ian is getting on. He has already watched the England Germany match and was in the process of watching the Mexico Argentina match (I think) when I last saw him but he's just called upstairs to see what I'm doing so maybe he plans to watch an episode of 'The Wire' or something!! In which case, I shall finish writing now and join him.

Saturday 26th June

So here we are.

It's Saturday night, almost twenty to ten and I'm heading for bed. I've eaten all I can so why stay up any longer?

"Whose hungry?" asked the guy on the TV and I found myself answering him... "Me!"

How sad is that?

Did I tell you that I lost the total of two pounds in two weeks this last fortnight?

If one more person says to me, "It's your age," with a sigh, followed by, "The slower it comes off, the slower it'll go back on again."
I'll scream :)

Let's move away from my angst and focus on happier times. . .
Here's a photo of Luca taken on Father's Day.

Can you see what's hanging from his finger?

We were in the garden when he appeared at my side, "Look Granny!" he said.

At first, I couldn't make out what it was. It looked like some sort of maggot but it was hanging onto his finger.
My initial reaction was to scream, and in a frenzy of flapping arms, flick it off his finger and grind it into the ground beneath my shoe.

But I refrained.

On closer inspection, I realised that it was a moth in the process of emerging from it's chrysalis!!

Imagine that. Aged fifty nine, I'm seeing a moth wriggling out of it's chyrsalis for the first time because a three year old is standing there holding it up in front of me.

I've no idea where he found it but it took some convincing to stop him piling stones on top of it to make it a wee house :)

In the end we put it in with Mummy's herbs and left it to finish it's task.

Good luck little moth!

If you are on a diet, might I suggest getting yourself invited to Carole's for dinner. She's a dab hand at light but luscious! :)

Wednesday evening

Luca on the computer the other week

Bad news from the garage at teatime, today.

Yesterday, the garage told me that my car needed a new handbrake to pass the MOT.
Tonight, they confessed that the supplier had sent the wrong part and that they didn't notice till they were about to use it!
This afternoon.

So now everything is on hold till they get the right part which they hope will be sometime tomorrow!
"And what time tomorrow do you think the car will be ready?" I asked.
A pause was followed by a slow intake of breath at the other end of the phone.
"Well, maybe by the end of the the day."
There was another pause. I waited.
"If we can get the part in time. . . "

The end of a lovely day.

I should have realised that fly was a bad omen!
I thought it was a weird thing at the time.
This morning. . .

No wait, I'll go back to last night -

Ian and I were in bed. The light was off and the TV had timed out. I'm lying there trying to fall asleep when I begin to hear the drone of a fly closeby.

"Right," I say to myself. "Are you going to put the light on and get this fly out of the room?"

I listened some more.
Buzz . . . but nothing too close.
Ian must be out for the count already because he's doing nothing.

"So if it isn't getting too close?"

I decide to do nothing.
"The lights out," I tell myself, "It'll soon decide it might as well go to sleep too!"

And I picture it high up on the wall, quietly snoozing till the morning and the next thing I know, it is morning!

I'd forgotten all about the fly till I got out of bed and pulled back the cover.
And guess what?

A wee fly awoken by the light, blinked up at me and began to shuffle across the bedsheet towards the edge of the bed!

I kid you not!!

I stared at it moving slowly across the sheet for a moment. Should I scream and smash it to smithereens or pick it up and put it out the window? The thought moved as slowly across my brain as the fly was moving across my bed!

In the end, I threw it out the window!

Weird or what?

I'm off to Inverurie tomorrow to talk to the florist with Carole and we're having lunch first so that'll be nice - Ian says he'll give me a lift.

Ross and I took a wee walk into the village today to get milk and bread. He took a wee bit of a funny turn in the supermarket (I think it was because he's had no coffee fix before he came out) so we went to the new coffee shop and had a coffee and a 'sit down'.

We got the window seat which has swivel chairs! :)

I took this photo yesterday as Ross sat on his own swivel chair!!
