Footie time

Lucy!
What beautiful hydrangeas you have!
The border at the back of the garden is lovely, and your vegetable plot is looking good too! I'm impressed.

I've just been down in our back garden to find that a HUGE, brown, SLIMY slug was in the process of eating one of my plants.!

I lifted it off and put it in one of my black plastic boxes with an alternative food source - maybe it'll stay in the box.
One of my new flowers is now merely stems :( The flowers are gone and so is every leaf that was on the entire plant!!
It obviously tasted delicious to the local wildlife.

Changing the subject. . .
Here's a couple of photos of Sadie Wilson's house - the old Toll House. I've always loved this house! Which is silly because I've never been inside and have no idea what it looks like but it just so attractive from the outside!

I took the photos on Wednesday when Johanne, Anne and I walked to the Falls of Feugh cafe for a coffee.

Johanne was using her stick on the way home because she was feeling stiff.

She was telling us that she's just finished a series of visits to the speech therapist who had offered her a mike to help to make her voice louder.
She said it was a bit like those black microphones you see instructors wearing when they're taking 'keep fit' classes, but now that I think about it, she didn't say what the speaker was like that she'd need too.

We asked her if she would consider using it but she laughed as though it was a ridiculous idea and said, no.

D'you like my photo of buttercups?
They're growing in my rockery at the front of the house. So much nicer than dandelions!

Sunday at five oclock - tea time!

It won't be long till it's teatime.
The chilli beans are almost ready and the tortillas are in the oven to warm as we speak. I've calculted that I can eat one tortilla with my beans if I want to have a glass of wine too.

I am totally obsessed by the need to calculate points just now. Points mean pounds! I maintain a regime of no more than eighteen points a day and I lose pounds. I don't see food on my plate anymore I see friends and foes depending on how many points each food is worth.

Cheese is my enemy, carrots are my friend. Can you hear the sobs?

The weight is moving slowly downwards. I weighed in at eleven stone three and a half pounds on Thursday night.

"Well done," said the wee girl who runs the class. "You've lost another pound and a half!'" she added excitedly. "At this rate, by next week you'll have lost half a stone!!"
She gave me a dazzling smile.
I was happy too.

But not ready to return her dazzling smile. No. I contained my merriment by considering how it'll have taken me five weeks to get rid of half a stone and as all perennial dieters know, I could replace it in just half the time :(

Oh woe is me.

Want to see what I had for lunch the day Ross and I took my car to the garage to get new tyres?

Yes, a banana.
Ross assured me his panini with ham and cheese was not good enough for me to covet. Thanks Ross.

Our plan had been to drive the car to the garage, go get necessary shopping from the supermarket, have a bite of lunch and then pick up the car with it's new tyres. Ross would then go to his job in Strachan and I would be dropped off at the hairdressers.

Seemple, yes.
Well yes if the garage had fitted the tyres. Which they hadn't. They'd fitted one.
So Ross and I strode out into the village so's I wasn't late for the hairdressers and he could phone his customer.

I don't know how Ross was, but I had built up a fair heat - enough to make my glasses steam up when I sat down in the hairdressers!

Here we are oblivious to the coming catastrophe and enjoying our lunch together:)

What d'you think. Who's having the most fun?

Tuesday morning

Just a quick entry - I'm heading out to walk with Anne and Sri in the rain at 10.30 and I've still to get dressed yet.

No sunshine today or yesterday either for that matter. But I've got a hood to keep the rain off my straightened hair and if the worst comes to the worst, I can use my hair straighteners when I get back.

I just love my hair straighteners!
How did I survive without them?

Changing the subject slightly.
Can't have an entry without a bit of colour so here are a couple of photos of Luca.

They were taken last Tuesday.
Nice to see the sun, isn't it?

We're still finding plenty of snails in the garden but a lot more small ones and not so many biggies!
I think my stategy might be working :)

Friday Morning

Just to let you all know -
Last night's weigh-in revealed that I had lost the grand total of one pound.

"Don't feel bad," said my buddy who had lost an astounding seven pounds!

OK, I'll try to be positive.

I know. It's early days . . . and besides, Ian says he's noticed a difference.
Already, he said, I'm taking up less room in the bed!

So there we have it.

D'you like the lilac? I took the photo on my walk the other day. If you look closely, you can see the steps that take you down to the river.

Wednesday morning

Just a quick entry.

Arrived home from Inverurie late last night and stretched my hand out to pick up my handbag as I pulled the keys out of the ignition and prepared to open the door.
It wasn't there!

Of course it's there.
I patted the empty seat.

It wasn't on the passengers seat or on the floor in front of it.
Gulp...
Too soon to panic, I tell myself, it'll be on the back seat. . .
no.

OK, getting serious here.
Check under the front seat.
Get out and go into the back of the car.
Get down and look under the seats. . .

Do it all again.

It was now time to panic!

Frantically, I chased my memories round inside my head.
Had I lifted it off the back of the kitchen chair?
Had I left it in the bathroom when I used it just before I left? (a behaviour ingrained in me by my mother who never let her children leave the house without at least trying to empty their bladder)

Oh God, had I put it down on the drive as I was opening the car door!

I was so uptight by the time I had finished, I had to eat 150g of raspberries (three quarters of a weightwatchers point) before I could even think about going to bed.

Gary phoned this morning. He found the bag.
So I'm heading over to Inverurie to pick it up.
I've decided I'll use their garden centre to make my trip worthwhile.

What do you think of my photo? I took it on my way to the supermarket last week.

It's the path that runs out of the King George V going towards Glebe Park. Looks lovely, doesn't it?

Tuesday 14.08

Got a couple of minutes before I leave to pick up Luca from nursery and I've just finishing transfering my photos over to the computer now that Ross has fixed the programme so I thought I'd let you see my apple blossom!

And here is the fertilised flowers too. . . all I have to do now is make sure I don't let the little tree dry out and we'll have a crop of apples again this year!

D'you want to see a picture of Luca? This one was taken last week when he was collecting snails from the back garden.

He was thrilled with this snail.
It got so fed up with him picking it up and putting it down again, it decided, "What the heck, I'll just stay out!"
